Poole day 5

Wednesday began with a beautiful sunrise, a flat calm glassy harbour and a forecast of wind rising to a F6 some point in the morning.

We set off at just gone 9am into a F3-4 and darkening
skies with the threat of rain. Mel and Steve plus Alan and Bill in reefed Trios threaded the islands; in a big figure of eight, east between Furzey and Green, west through Blood Alley, east again between Furzey and Green and then home. It was a short sail in increasing winds and was enough.

The weather was rainy and cold, so three repaired to a pub for lunch and Swanage for ice creams and a bit of local history in the museum, then back to the field for an afternoon nap. The “warm sector” of the low pressure brought mist, torrential drizzle, fog and damp so we drank a lot of hot drinks and contemplated the nature of the universe.
