The run to Nare Point was uneventful, the screaming spinnaker reach to the Manacles Cardinal Mark saw planing most of the way, three boats took the direct route which was quite out to sea, the rest a more coast hugging route and David arrived first as if the rest had not been trying.
We mulled about for photos with the Manacles buoy. The beat wind-against-tide from the buoy South was into 1m steep waves which bellyflopped the dinghy hull a few times. When we turned towards the beach, the waves were manageable and decreased as we neared the beach, arriving at low tide. The sun was out, the sky mostly blue with occasional cumulus.
Lunch was taken and we were joined on the beach by Ben, Max, Zak, Xander, Ruth, Del, Elliot, Sarah-Louise, Mark, Elliot, Terry, Andrea, Josh, Ben.
Most of us reefed for the return journey, which initially seemed over-cautious on the run, but as we hardened up from the Manacles buoy to the Helford River the F5 solidly blew. We arrived safely and tired after a taxing sail. The sun is still out and we look forward to a relaxing evening.
