We reached, ran and broad reached with spinnakers up in sporting winds to August Rock, then onto the waters off Maenporth. The tide was high and the beach looked crowded, and there are new buoys indicating that anchoring is now prohibited, so our plan to not take up precious beachfront by anchoring off was thwarted. We tried another adjacent beach and found it steep and difficult with a high swell so we abandoned that stop and made for Grebe Beach. The beat back was exciting and we arrived and pulled up on the shore.
We had a lovely time on the beach until it was time to head back to camp. The beat against the ebb was challenging and most of us crept up the sides out of the fast flowing waters.
Having pulled three boats up the slipway, we enjoyed camp cream tea organised and fetched by Anna and Mark – thank you.
That was accompanied by a rope throwing challenge, into a bucket from a distance, with a rope with a monkey’s fist, and everyone had a go. While many were close, none landed the fist in the bucket. More practice required…
