Helford day 9 – Fog and Wind

The forecast was for fog and strong wind and then sun. We got fog and strong wind and no sun… too windy to sail.
The plan was to go to Gweek for breakfast but that was thwarted by the dense fog, and the forecasted F5-7 from the East.
Instead a land cruise by car achieved the cafe, seven diners.
For the afternoon, Andrea organised a walk for around 20 on a circular trail around Portoustock and Porthallow followed by a visit to the Ice Cream Factory and evening meal.
The meteorological conditions this morning were unusual; low level fog from Cornwall to Kent in the channel and as far north as Oxford, with a high pressure over the centre of England and a deep low pressure sucking the air from the East along the coast. The fog did not burn off until late afternoon and the wind is still strong into the evening.
