Stephen and Tony were the lucky recipients of some of Steve’s experience whilst servicing his trailer. Sunday 9th January was a lovely sunny and not too cold day, much better than the original date of the 8th.
One of us had done our homework of watching the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTbf_IZ6mDY but blotted his copybook by arriving late. We learnt how to remove the cap over the wheel bearing, strip the bearing, grease the roller bearing and reassemble. As usual there are many tips which help as well as how to start the job with confidence instead of puzzlement. We were congratulating ourselves on learning this job in comfort with a cup of tea by us rather than on a roadside in the dark and rain, then as the final wheel nut was tightened, very tight became very loose, but no swearing. Replacing a wheel stud was an unexpected bonus.
Stephen and I would thoroughly recommend that others with trailers or who tow the club boat attend if Steve is kind enough to repeat it.
Many thanks to Steve for giving up a Sunday morning for us.
Tony
