The forecast for Tuesday was for high winds and rain during the day with a possible hint of a window of pleasant wind first thing, so we were away at 08:30 knowing that we were likely to be rained on while sailing.
XCWeather was showing F3 or 4 upwind to Cornwall which reinforced the evidence of a small sailable period before the big winds arrived.
Roy, Jenny, Steve, Mel, Stephen and Bill sailed East between Furzey and Green, West down the North of Brownsea, East up Blood Alley and West between Furzey and Green. As the time passed, it began to drizzle and the wind very gently rose and we arrived back at 11:20 with plenty of depth.
It was lovely to be sailing in the harbour, we were the only sails to be seen for most of the morning and it was an entertaining trip made better by knowing that we had achieved sailing on a day with such a poor forecast. Stephen left camp.
By noon, the forecasted high winds and torrential rain were battering tent and motor home alike. Hot lunch in Swanage called, and in the torrential rain we foraged for food. Mike F arrived and pitched his tent in stormy conditions.
