Fridays forecast for a F2-4 was exceeded all day as we had a F4-5 with mostly full sun. 2k- Roy and Jenny, Trio- James and Sandy, Trio- Mel, Steve and Mike, Sport14- Debbie and Morgan, Versa- Paul and Martin, Pacer- Bill and Sally, John Wellsford Walkabout- Ginny and Phoebe, the dog.
Our plan was to sail to the North of Brownsea Island, then out of the harbour, past the training wall to Old Harry’s Rocks, and on to South Beach for lunch. Ginny chose to stay in the harbour and sailed a difficult sea back, landing at 13:30.
We left as a fleet and sailed a sparkling reach then spinnaker broad reach with trapezing by Debbie in the Sport, L2K and Trio spinnakering to the first rendezvous off Pottery Pier, then onto the East of Brownsea to muster before shooting at pace past the chain ferry and down the training wall. Some went to look closely at Old Harry and some went straight to South Bay. We had a leisurely lunch. Throughout this, we had a RIB video crew taking stills and video of our enjoyable sailing. On the beach, we were interviewed individually. The video crew left and we began our journey home in still F4-5 at 14:30, and watched the cross channel trimaran depart. After the chain ferry, we had free sailing back to the camp, with almost everyone sailing to the beach and one boat taking a walk to the beach.
It was a splendid and challenging sail in great conditions and excellent company.
