Poole Day 7

The forecasted rain barely showed up, and at 8am we decided that in the light airs we’d sail round the back of Round and Long Islands and then on to Rockley for a cuppa.
Simon and Jenny took the GP14 and Steve and Mike went in the Trio while Roy sailed the Laser. The morning was cold and bright, full sun from sun-up, and we beat gently out of the creek, ran down to Round Island, beat past the islands – no seal to be seen, and then over to Rockley. We had a good cuppa and a bun in the sun, then headed back in wind that was variable and quite light at times. We aimed for Pottery Pier, then gathered and confirmed that Blood Alley was windless, so headed straight home arriving around 11:45. Then some paddleboards were endampened and some exploration of the creek ensued. The afternoon was warm, the showers missed us, then the air turned cold again. Unfortunately, for different reasons, Lloyd and Martin plus Ben are unable to join us this weekend, so this is the crew for Saturday and Sunday. We are plotting some interesting sails for the next couple of days.
